Participants work through the responsibilities of a batching operator, from preparing the plant and understanding the materials to controlling production and keeping reliable records. The program covers:
- Ready-mixed concrete production and the role of the batching operator
- Batching plant components and their functions
- Safe operation of control panels, conveyors and mixers, where applicable
- Material awareness, mix proportioning and batching accuracy
- Calibration principles and the importance of checking equipment
- Basic quality control, including slump and cube testing
- Production documentation and records
The training also reinforces a habit central to reliable production: recognize abnormal conditions, check the relevant information and escalate issues to the appropriate supervisor or quality control personnel.
